From April 1-4, 2025, part of our Platform Engineering team spent a week at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2025 in London. With over 12,000 attendees, this year's KubeCon was an impressive event. Organized by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), the event provided not only a deep dive into the latest cloud native technologies, but also numerous opportunities to interact directly with the maintainers of leading open source projects.
In focus: Observability, Platform Engineering, Security and AI/MLOps
During KubeCon 2025, the focus was on topics such as observability, platform engineering and security. The sessions on these areas provided valuable insights into current developments and best practices. Exciting aspects of AI and MLOps were also discussed, demonstrating how cloud-native technologies can support the next era of machine intelligence.
Exchange with those responsible for maintenance and the community
KubeCon is not only a conference with many presentations, but also an excellent platform for direct exchange. Our team had the opportunity to exchange ideas with the maintainers of the leading open source projects and gather important ideas for our own work. This exchange is particularly valuable, not only to keep pace with the technology, but also to participate in the long-term development of the open source community.
Exciting keynotes and new initiatives
The keynotes at KubeCon 2025 offered fascinating insights into current and future developments. Particularly exciting was the discussion about the role of cloud-native technologies in the development of new infrastructures, such as the initiative for sovereign EU clouds. We are following this development with great interest, as it represents an important step towards a secure and independent cloud infrastructure for Europe.
Outlook: Cloud Native Summit Munich 2025
Another highlight is already on the horizon: the Cloud Native Summit Munich will take place at smartvillage Bogenhausen in Munich on July 21 and 22, 2025. This event is aimed at developers, platform engineers and IT professionals and offers a platform for exchanging ideas about cloud-native technologies. As the smartvillage Bogenhausen is located right next to our Munich office in Arabellapark, we are particularly looking forward to the event. After last year's successful participation, we are planning to be there again this year.
Conclusion
KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2025 was an enriching experience that opened up new technical perspectives and offered many opportunities for exchange and networking. We look forward to incorporating what we learned into our work at CIB!
